This Year 3 Divide by 3 Prior Learning worksheet recaps children's knowledge of making equal groups and using arrays in preparation for their new learning of how to divide by 3. With a mix of varied fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions, pupils will gain a thorough understanding of the skills involved before moving on to the next unit. We've also included an answer sheet to encourage peer or self-marking. This resource is ideal to use independently, or in small intervention groups.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
  • Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition, mental methods, and multiplication and division facts, including problems in contexts
  • Show that multiplication of two numbers can be done in any order (commutative) and division of one number by another cannot
