Brush up on multiplication and times table facts before moving on to Year 3 Multiply a 2-Digit number by a 1-Digit Number - No Exchange.

Try our Multiply a 2-Digit Number by a 1-Digit Number - No Exchange Prior Learning which recaps repeated addition to add equal groups, before moving onto the main skill of using a written method to solve multiplications without an exchange. We have created three varied fluency questions, two reasoning questions and one problem solving question for children to consolidate their knowledge of multiplication with known times tables. Use this worksheet as a pre-assessment task to begin your lesson. Alternatively, it could be used in a small intervention group to challenge children further or to support children in their learning when required. As always, we've included the answer sheet so don't miss out.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
  • Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition, mental methods, and multiplication and division facts, including problems in contexts
  • Show that multiplication of two numbers can be done in any order (commutative) and division of one number by another cannot
