This Year 6 Substitution Varied Fluency worksheet will help children understand the relationship between the values in an equation and the answer, and how replacing algebraic symbols with numbers in an expression impacts the answer. Children will start with pictorial representations in expressions, then move onto matching expressions to given answers and investigating how an equation's answer changes if the values change. All answers are given so that marking is as simple as possible!

Note: the 'a' column uses whole numbers and the 'b' column introduces decimals and fractions.
