This Year 6 Translations Varied Fluency worksheet is designed to give pupils the opportunity to practice what they have been shown on our Modelling PowerPoint and to build their confidence when translating shapes.

Saving you time preparing questions, each worksheet presents pupils with six VF questions all focused on translation in four quadrants and comes complete with answers to provide immediate feedback and supports self or peer assessment.

Ideal for use in class or as extra practice at home, this worksheet is differentiated to three levels of challenge to meet the needs of your class:

Developing: Questions to support translating regular shapes with up to four sides in all four quadrants. Including one movement per translation.

Expected: Questions to support translating shapes with up to four sides in all four quadrants where some shapes may be irregular. Including up to two movements per translation.

Greater Depth: Questions to support translating shapes with up to six sides in all four quadrants where some shapes may be irregular. Including two movements per translation and grids of varying scales with some points plotted between increments.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Draw and translate simple shapes on the coordinate plane, and reflect them in the axes
  • Describe positions on the full coordinate grid (all four quadrants)
