This Year 6 Writing Equations Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet will help children understand how to write algebraic equations. Children will begin by creating an equation using given numbers and operations then writing a word problem to match the equation. They will then reason whether given equations have been written correctly to match a bar model and finally look at whether a written equation matches a calculation. All answers are given so that marking is as simple as possible!

Note: the 'a' column uses whole numbers and the 'b' column introduces decimals and fractions.
