War Horse Chapter 5 Comprehension Whole Class Guided Reading

War Horse Chapter 5 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on the fifth chapter of the popular novel by Michael Morpurgo. We recommend using this novel with Year 5 & Year 6. In Chapter 5, Joey is working with Corporal Perkins to prepare for the war. Perkins is clearly not fond of Joey, until Captain Nicholls says he will be the one riding Joey. As a result, Perkins begins to treat Joey better. On the last day of training, Joey takes part in the charge where all horses and their riders gallop towards the enemy. The end of the chapter sees Joey and his new friend, Topthorn, shipped away to France.
