Differentiation:

Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Varied Fluency)
Developing Identify which position the parenthesis given could be inserted. Positions A, B and C given as scaffolding.
Expected Underline the sentence which could include the given parenthesis. Rewrite the sentence to include the parenthesis.
Greater Depth An arrow has been drawn to indicate where parenthesis should be added. Write a piece of parenthesis for the position indicated.

Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Varied Fluency)
Developing Select the most appropriate concise noun phrase to replace the one given in the text. Concise noun phrase underlined in the passage as scaffolding.
Expected Select the most appropriate concise noun phrase to replace the one given in the text.
Greater Depth Cross out any unnecessary information included in the expanded noun phrases to make them more concise. No choices given.

Questions 3, 6 and 9 (Reasoning and Problem Solving)
Developing Explain the improvements that can be made. Improvements needed underlined as scaffolding.
Expected Underline where improvements can be made in the paragraph and explain your choices.
