This Key Stage 1 Rise and Read First Day Back at School resource includes four reading activities centred around the first day of a new school year. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and can be displayed on the whiteboard for early morning work, used within reading lessons or as a stimulus for assemblies.

The pack includes a short story, a set of instructions and an image stimulus. These are followed by questions that develop a range of reading skills, including prediction, vocabulary, retrieval and inference.
