This Key Stage 1 Rise and Read Mother's Day resource includes four reading activities focused on Mother's Day. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this special day.

The pack includes a poem, a short story, an image and an information text. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, vocabulary, effect, prediction and inference. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on selecting true and false statements based on a text.
