This Key Stage 1 Rise and Read Remembrance Day resource includes four reading activities focused on Remembrance Day. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about the world around them.

The pack includes an information text, a short story, an image and an instruction text. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference, prediction and summary. There is also an assessment style question which focuses on selecting statements which are true based on the text.

This resource does not require any printing as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
