This Key Stage 1 Rise and Read St George's Day resource includes four reading activities focused on St George's Day. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about the world around them.

The pack includes a short story, a poem, an image and an information text. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: vocabulary, prediction, retrieval, purpose and inference. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on identifying true/false statements based on the text.
