An engaging Year 1 practical activity in which children will develop their understanding of the numbers 14, 15 and 16. Using tens frames to replicate double-decker buses and counters to mimic people, children will find different ways of filling the buses. Children will build an awareness that no matter where the 'people' sit, they will always represent the same number. Children score points for each variation that they find and the winner is the child with the most points. This activity makes a fantastic group game that can be replicated for any number to 20.
