Punctuation Commas Guidance

Planning
An image of the Punctuation Commas Guidance Resource

Are your class ready to take on using commas? Then we have the guidance just for you! Use our Year 2 Punctuation Commas Guidance to offer you support in creating a sequence of lessons and help in planning the content for these lessons.

This resource starts off with a timetable to suggest where in the year this unit of work could be taught. It then gives an overview of what objectives are covered in this guidance, followed by an individual page for each proposed lesson. The lessons include recognising the use of commas in a list and putting this skill into practice by writing a list of their own.

Each small step or lesson guidance page includes a notes and guidance section that covers what children should be aware of before they begin the lesson and what the expected outcome should be. There are a series of focused questions that you could incorporate into your teaching too. This guidance works well with the corresponding resources for this lesson, and these include things like worksheets, teaching resources and much more!
