Support understanding of how to solve an equation with one unknown by using this resource.
This Year 6 Solving Equations with One Unknown Varied Fluency worksheet will help children understand how to calculate the value of one unknown (represented by a letter) in an equation. The first two questions use pictorial representations to support understanding of how to calculate one unknown in an equation through part-whole models and bar models, before finishing with four calculations that each use one of the four operations to find one unknown. All answers are given so that marking is as simple as possible!
Note: the 'a' column uses whole numbers and the 'b' column introduces decimals and fractions.
A fluency matrix and a reasoning and problem solving resource are also available for this small step.
