Children always love another chance to have a go at something, particularly comparing mathematical statements. So here is a Year 1 Compare Statements 2 resource, which forms part two of the comparing statements step. It is a practical activity, formed of six different tasks to help you enhance your provision area and help your class get to grips with comparing statements. The tasks include a fine motor task, an outdoor task and a writing task, all with brief prompts and instructions.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
  • Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (–) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing number problems such as 7 = __ 9
  • Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs
