Use this engaging Year 2 Adding '-ment', '-er' and '-ness' Prior Learning worksheet to assess children's understanding of adding suffixes. The focus of this resource is to recognise how to add the ‘-ing’, ‘-ed’ and ‘-er’ suffixes to verbs; with three fluency, two reasoning and one application question, children can familiarise themselves again with these suffixes from Year 1 before moving onto adding the Year 2 suffixes '-ment', '-er' and '-ness'.

This worksheet could be used with individuals or small groups of children who may need a little extra support before the main learning of this lesson. It could also be used as an informal assessment before the main lesson to identify misconceptions.
