Year 3 and Year 4 Switch Off Fortnight Challenge is a take-home sheet with 14 energy-saving challenges for children to try with their families. Some are quick actions, and others ask children to find something out.
On the sheet:
Everyday switch-offs, such as turning off lights when a room is empty and switching a games console off at the wall.
Ways to stay warm without the heating, including closing doors and curtains.
Small research and creative tasks, like finding out how much energy a lightbulb uses or making a poster about saving energy at school.
A colour-in grid and a box to record how many challenges they completed.
Print a copy for each child and send it home at the start of Switch Off Fortnight, letting children pick a few challenges to begin with.
When children bring in their energy-saving posters, put them up around school while the fortnight is running.
Collect the totals at the end and add them up as a class.
