Use this Year 6 Area of a Parallelogram Reasoning and Problem Solving resource to allow your class to apply their knowledge to problem solving.
The worksheet starts with a reasoning question that will help to confirm which measurements should be used when calculating the area of a parallelogram. In questions two and three, children use their knowledge to find more than one solution to the problem posed. This allows them to build flexibility and resilience in their mathematical thinking. Each question has two similar parts to promote confidence.
An answer sheet is also available for teachers and children who are self-marking their work.
A varied fluency resource is also available for this small step.
