Deepen understanding of how to use a formula to calculate the area of a triangle by using this resource.
This Year 6 Area of a Triangle (Using Formula) Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet builds on the previous small step about finding a triangle's area by counting squares to show how to use a formula (base x height divided by 2) to calculate any triangle's area. Children will explore the relationship between measurements to compare the area of two triangles, explain if a child has calculated a triangle's area correctly and identify possible triangle measurements to satisfy given criteria. All answers are also included so that marking is as easy as possible!
A varied fluency resource and fluency matrix are also available for this small step.
